Hurricane Response: Cleaning Kits
The Missions/Social Concerns Team and the United Methodist Women are coordinating a response through UMCOR for the emergencies created by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria (as well as other flooding spots) by inviting the congregation to help in gathering items to fill 10 Cleaning Kit buckets. While buckets have already gone out to Texas, Florida, etc, there will be a desperate need to have supplies renewed. Please go to the following link to sign up for what you can donate: bit.ly/UMCORcleaning
Because all items need to fit in the bucket, it is very important to take careful note of what size is needed for each item. If the larger size is not available, go for the next smaller. There are strict regulations on what types of containers are necessary, i.e., because spray bottles can leak (and take extra room), they are not requested. Exception is insect repellent.
Hurricane Response: Hygiene Kits
Missions and UMW also has an ongoing effort throughout the year to create hygiene kits for UMCOR. While the cleaning kits are designed for cleaning homes, the hygiene kits are designed for personal and self-care. The goal is to create a total of 100 cleaning kits. Our first goal is 50 kits by October 22. (Second goal to reach 100, TBD.) Please go to the following link to sign up for what you can donate: bit.ly/UMCORhygiene. Please bring supplies for either kit to church office by October 22.
If you need assistance signing up, Peggy is available to help you on Sunday mornings and during weekday office hours.
