First United Methodist Church of Olympia is hiring an office manager/administrative assistant to help us run our busy church office and be a part of our enthusiastic ministry team. The job has a great variety of responsibilities, including printing and publication, volunteer coordination, hospitality, and scheduling. This is a full-time position (32-40 hours per week) with health and pension benefits available. The work schedule is Sunday to Thursday, 8 am to closing (usually 2 pm on Sunday and 5 pm Monday-Thursday). Wage range is $18 to $20 per hour at hiring.

The successful applicant will understand that the efficient running of the church office is a ministry. They will be a strong team player, friendly and hospitable to all, with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.  The applicant must be able to work well with volunteers, and have strong computer skills, especially word processing and database/calendar management.  Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher is expected. WordPress experience is a plus. Familiarity with congregational life is extremely helpful. The diversity of tasks keeps this job interesting. The church office manager will be interacting with hundreds of people every week, helping the clergy and pastoral staff do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.
