Join the First Olympia Book Group in the Gathering Place on the 2nd Friday of each month at 10 am. 

This September we will be discussing our summer reading.  Books chosen for the new season could be of great interest for you:

September: Discussion on Summer Reading &  My Grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry (Frederick Backman)

October:  A Moveable Feast (Ernest Hemingway)

November: The Physician (Noah Gordon)

December:  Luncheon at the Boating Party (Susan Vreeland)

January:  The Aviator’s Wife (Melanie Benjamin)

February:  Euphoria (Lily King)

March:  Being Mortal (Atul Gawande)

April:  The Art of Hearing Heartbeats (Jan-Phillip Sendker)

May:  TBD

June:  Choose books for the September – May sessions for next year.

This particular book group that has gathered at the Methodist Church has been in existence since 1964.  Of course, the attendees, as well as the books, have changed throughout the years.


The After Hours Book Club is for those who love to read and discuss books and is open to adults and teens.

The group meets Friday evenings at 6:30pm at the Barnes and Noble on Black Lake Blvd.
