This sunflower is grown from a seedling that the Green Team handed out to commemorate Earth Day.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy! - Psalm 96

First United Methodist Church makes a commitment toward a sustainable lifestyle.  Scripture clearly states that God created, blessed, protected and made a covenant with the different species. As stewards of God's creation we are called to do no less. Green Ministry Team is an active group that focuses on protecting God's beautiful earth by promoting reduce, reuse, and recycle efforts within the church.

We follow this call through recycling programs, composting, using compostable disposable materials, monitoring our energy usage, and education.

The team instituted "green composting bins" at the church in 2012. The Green Bin Program has reduced the volume of church garbage and resulted in annual savings of $762.

Green Team meets on the last Sunday of the month at 10:15am. All are welcome to join us in our sustainability efforts!
